Drama Based Teaching, Conflict Prevention and
Critical Thinking

This guide is based on Augusto Boal’s methodology. We have adapted his Theatre of the Oppressed technique to the needs of our secondary school students to prevent bullying and help them understand each other or try to detect deeper issues that might affect their relationship and, therefore, their studies. We will learn within this guide how powerful theatre can be. Such a powerful tool that might change the way our students see the world and, in some cases, their lives.

 

From the many techniques the theatre the pressed has we have chosen the three we thought most useful and more encouraging for the ages of our students. These are: invisible theatre, forum theatre and image theatre. Let's go through the basics of each technique.
