Drama Based Teaching
No matter what you use drama for, it’s necessary to know some techniques that might help us obtain a more expressive and, therefore, interesting result. The aim of this virtual guide is to provide teachers with the basics to start from, the roots to build more in-depth drama teaching techniques to develop your experience as a drama-teacher-facilitator in the classroom.
The basic methodologies we have worked with in this project are:
-
Energiser and warm up exercises
-
Two touch theatre based on Mark Wheeller work
-
Gym Mat Drama
-
Slow motion
-
Freeze images
-
Improvisation techniques based on The Mantle of the Expert by Dorothy Heathcote
These methodologies, or the ones you think are suitable as well, can be applied to use drama as a teaching or training tool to teach your area or for conflict prevention respectively, or even to make your Drama lessons more expressive.
